Churches don't always think of themselves as employers.  So as an employer,  the church is subject to the same legal obligations that apply to secular employers.  Some laws do not affect the church because of the separation of church and state. However, in most cases the church is held to the same laws as secular employers.  What is the church's legal responsibility to employees?  As good stewart and the personal financial responsibility of the church,  it is important that the Pastor and his administrative staff  protects the church from employment litigation or fines and penalities from outside government agencies.

Texas Workforce Commission's Office of the Commissioner Representing Employers produces a handy reference book entitled "Especially for Texas Employers" to provide information on important workplace issues.  The content includes chapters on: the basic legal issues relevant to hiring, pay and policy, work separation, post-employment problems, and employment law-related websites.
